There are certain contraindications that could affect your ability to consider a VLCD weight loss plan. We ask that you read the following to ensure that you are able to proceed with your required weight loss plan.

Side Effects of a VLCD plan

When embarking on a VLCD plan for weight loss, you may experience the following side effects: Headaches, dizziness, constipation, fatigue, weakness, changes to your menstrual cycle, cold intolerance flu like symptoms. You may also experience the following and more serious side effects: Changes to fertility, development of gout and gall stones.


If you are taking medications for any of the following conditions, we ask that you speak to your doctor prior to embarking on the SML plan.

Can you answer NO to ALL of these questions?

Are you under 18 years old or over 75 years old? 

Are you currently pregnant, given birth in the last 12 weeks, currently breastfeeding?

Are you lactose intolerant?

Do you have allergies to the following: Milk, Soya, Nuts, shellfish?

Have you experienced major trauma during the last 3 months?

Have you undergone minor surgery within the last 4 weeks?

Have you undergone major surgery within the last 12 weeks?

Do you have type 1 diabetes?

Do you have Liver or Kidney disease?

Do you suffer with any form of acute or chronic renal failure?

Do you suffer from Porphyria?

Do you suffer from any Psychotic illness?

Do you suffer from any Psychotic illness?

Do you suffer with severe depression or bipolar disorder?

Do you have a diagnosed heart condition? (including previous heart attack)

Do you have any serious illness?

Have you previously suffered with an eating disorder such as Anorexia or Bulimia Nervosa?

Do you have epilepsy?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then we are extremely sorry but ANY VLCD plan would NOT be suitable for you. We would ask that you speak to your health professional to consider other weight loss options.
